The Direct Answer: 3 to 6 Months for Solid Results

A well-executed credit repair process takes between 3 and 6 months in most cases. That range exists because every report is different: some have 2 disputable items, others have 15. Some bureaus respond in 21 days, others take the full 30 the law allows.

What is constant: the process has stages with fixed timelines that can't be rushed.

The Timeline, Stage by Stage

Days 1–7: Audit

All three reports (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion) are reviewed line by line. Disputable items are identified: errors, duplicates, outdated information, incorrectly reported late payments.

Days 7–14: Drafting and Sending Letters

Dispute letters are drafted and sent with supporting documentation. They're sent certified mail — that creates the legal record of when they arrived.
